Truth & Selfies

We live in a Selfie Society. I took several pictures trying to get the right one. A couple were at bad angles! Looking at the lines on my neck almost made me dizzy! Yes vanity still dwells in me😩. Many different things can be assumed about a person from one photo...some are the truth...others are a little off target.
This photo would imply that I enjoy exercise: off target. The truth is: it's a daily struggle. I don't like to sweat.
Next it could be said, 'Angie enjoys life' -truth!
Another could be ' She must enjoy all that time to herself'--way off target. The truth is: I am a big time people person who enjoys a little chaos! The more the merrier!! Baseball life has stretched me in this area. Those of us in the game spend a lot of time by ourselves. The days are long. & he's gone a lot! Some years we end up the newbie on team and don't know anyone. In this journey, I've had to learn that I'm pretty good company!😊.
'She's a huge baseball fan!' Not always true. My husbands job is something people see when they 'see me' The truth is: I adore my husband and everything about him! However, I do not go to every game. There are tons of them & they're hot and sticky. Plus, I run the risk of being hit by foul balls because I'm not paying attention!

This Selfie world we live in can become plastic & pretend. We put on good faces to impress others and convince ourselves we're of value. i.e. Selfie Angles! The truth is: We are valuable! God created us with His loving hands and breathed His life into us. He chose to make us so He could have a relationship with us! It doesn't get much better than that!
Yes, I'm an over 50, fluffy, lover of Starbucks, sometimes lonely, in need of a Savior, a gravity marked mom, wife and Mimi! Miraculously the real me is seen by the God of effervescent Grace as perfectly His...flaws and all. I am loved!
Keep your chin up ladies. Fear not the truth of your reality. You're loved. You're beautiful!🌷

A Unique Tribe! ⚾️

To the new ladies navigating baseball life:
We live in the unique tribe world of pro sports. That life comes with preconceived ideas of what we the wives are supposed to look like & sound like.
I was terrified when we were called up to the Big Leagues! For me, minor league life was casual and “in my wheel house”. I had no idea what to expect when we got to Baltimore. Insecurity was my constant companion. I didn’t wear fancy clothes and barely knew how to apply makeup. High school flashbacks of being the tallest with red hair and a size 12 revisited me often. “I’m not the cute, coiffed, tiny MLB wife type”.....
Added to the mix was recovering from surgery to remove 2 large cysts from my ovaries... my belly was all puffy...and I felt awful. I was a mess!
When we arrived in Baltimore, God placed us in the middle of the best people I could’ve ever imagined!!! These wives were amazing! They loved and encouraged me. They wore comfy clothes to the games. They ate ballpark food. They fed their kids cotton candy. They got sweaty in the heat...like me!!
As a MiLB coaches wife now.... I’m older, marked by gravity. I’m still casual & lean heavily on my daughter, the pro MUA. I know God has us exactly where He wants us to be. We’re in this together. That is the focus. It truly doesn’t matter what the outside world perceives. He has placed us and equipped us for this unique tribe life!⚾️
You and I are born originals...no copies! We are all different in our likes & dislikes, talents, tastes and preferences. Take a deep breath, enjoy the moment & KNOW you're perfect just the way you are... Short, tall, tiny, fluffy, casual or coiffed....ITS ALL GOOD!
Be you bravely and with kindness!

HI! I'm Storm's Wife⚾️

The week we were married!
This Veteran's baseball journey has been a wild ride!

Storm and I met when we were in elementary school then met up again in High School...and the rest is history! We got into baseball when we were 19 years old. We were newly weds and life was euphoric! That is until the first road trip! I had never been away from home and was scared of the dark and being by myself. That was a definite problem since baseball players are gone half of the season 😬. I would stay awake until the sun came up dining on chips and Mountain Dew. Let's just say that it took me a while to get better at that! Poor man. He was so very patient. My first season was a huge learning curve!

We were brought up to the Major Leagues with the Orioles that next season. We were 20 and I was clueless. I met some really great ladies who took me under their wing. I vowed I would pass that gift along as we 'walked these bases'.
These wives had kids and busy schedules, but always included this awkward Newbie. And yes, I was still afraid of the dark.

After a couple of years of infertility, God blessed us with 3 precious children. They were all born in different states on different teams...& Yes...they've turned out to be remarkable adults!!

After our first World Series Championship in 1983/Orioles, I was having a conversation with a older coach's wife. She told me, 'Angie get a life of your own...he won't have time for you.' I didn't know what to do with her advice. I knew she meant well, but that didn't settle well with me. I was being shown just the opposite by the women around me. Yes, I was and am still known as Storm Davis's wife. Maybe I'm strange, but that has never bothered me. I know some of my colleagues struggle with this, and I understand, but for me it's always been a badge of honor. I married him on purpose. I am still so thrilled he asked me to be his wife. Plenty of people know me and my name, but Storm knows my heart..

We've always viewed the game as a Joint Effort...as a MLB player wife and now as a MILB coach.'s wife. We've never done well being away from each other for very long. I married my best friend! He married a redhead! Has it been all 'peaches and cream'? Heavens NO! Some years have been rough! But when I shake it all out--I wouldn't want to be doing anything else with anyone else.

Storm has always supported my creative outlets. I owned a wedding business for 6 years...just retired! I've designed kitchens; refinished antiques and hand painted them for sale; Run a deli for a friend; and fund raisers.
However, forever and always---My favorite job ever was raising our kids!! ABSOLUTELY! Now as a lovely result of that... I get to be a Mimi!!!!!💗

I just want to encourage you wherever you are in your story! You are doing a great job!! I promise it's time well spent! Love your man..encourage him..find the good..laugh hard..take care of yourself..be YOU with a brave soul..trust God's plan! Remember when it's all said and done...it will be the two of you! What a marvelous story!!

Am I still afraid of the dark? Let's just say I have very strange sleeping patterns!😩

I met this adorable girl named Laura at Spring Training in Arizona. She was newly engaged to a young man that would be on the team we were with that year. She and I became friends and had a blast as travel buddies in this crazy gypsy life of MILB baseball!
I am forever grateful I was asked to do her flowers for her wedding! As a bonus blessing, my daughter and her makeup & hair team came along for the fun too!
The friends we make in baseball are priceless treasures! They get us and understand before we even speak! Love you Laura and Dustin!! Happily Ever Afters do come true!

Gravity Girl Gets Real

Mimi & Papa
Hello from the other side🎤. This year I turned 56. Those who know me are dumbfounded that I would admit my actual age. I am surrounded, however, by my adult kids who are always happy to tell on me if I "fudge" on my age..even a little bit. Party Poopers!
As my husband so kindly says, "It's not the age it's the mileage!" I can be feeling like a brand new BMW moving with elegance and speed one day. The next day I'm more of a pick up truck reminiscent of the Waltons days! Mileage is a tricky thing.

Walking is my chosen mode of exercise these days. Walking to my car..to the kitchen..,in Target...in Publix...around the ballpark on BMW days! My Morning Calisthenics go something like this: gather from afar, lift, divide equally and secure firmly in place! 😬 #brawrangling. Gravity is real!! My doctor asked me what I was doing for resistance training...LOL...I told her I was lifting & hauling my large behind around with me! Sounds about right to me!

For the first time EVER I have begun to wonder if my sons get their ability to grow facial hair from me. 😩. These horrible little twigs of wire continue to sprout on my chin. What the heck?! I think the riddle of my thinning eyebrows has been solved as well. Gravity has been systematically moving them to my upper lip, that now looks like the dwelling place of a blonde caterpillar.

I don't know about you, but I find it perturbing that every visit to a medical professional ends with the phrase "for your age"...'Oh that's normal for your age...You can expect that at your age...Your skin looks pretty good for your age...That happens with women your age.' I sit there thinking to myself 'You mention my age one more time and I'm walking out and not paying the bill!' 😂 Extreme sassiness is also par for my age!

We've been trying to eat more healthy..WFPB(whole food plant based) for the past year. Storm the Male has lost weight and looks great. Angie the Female remains female....and fluffy! It's the only thing about being a guy that I wish for myself. They do their thing and "poof" they lose weight. No hormone or menopause issues to create havoc. Gravity seems kinder to the male species - Ugh😜

Even with all the 'not so kind' Gravity Girl Aging Challenges...I find Life, Love, and lots of Humor!
One of my favorite things at this stage of life is being a Mimi! These angel faces keep this Gravity Grandma on her toes. This is definitely one of the joys of being 'slightly' older. These little ones do not notice the fuzzy chin, saggy boobs, dimply thighs, or how many candles are on my birthday cake. They just want to hug and play...and that makes my day!

Storm said it wisely the other day while having dinner with the kids. He said, "We've had a lot of time with rear-view mirror experience...and it's all going to be ok!" I would not trade anything for the experiences of my life. I truly believe God uses all of it! He never wastes a thing! I am far from knowing all I need to know, and He is far from being done working on me! "He came that we might have life..and have it more abundantly!"
Cheers to the Gravity Girls! You Are Beautiful!!💕
