The week we were married!
This Veteran's baseball journey has been a wild ride!

Storm and I met when we were in elementary school then met up again in High School...and the rest is history! We got into baseball when we were 19 years old. We were newly weds and life was euphoric! That is until the first road trip! I had never been away from home and was scared of the dark and being by myself. That was a definite problem since baseball players are gone half of the season 😬. I would stay awake until the sun came up dining on chips and Mountain Dew. Let's just say that it took me a while to get better at that! Poor man. He was so very patient. My first season was a huge learning curve!

We were brought up to the Major Leagues with the Orioles that next season. We were 20 and I was clueless. I met some really great ladies who took me under their wing. I vowed I would pass that gift along as we 'walked these bases'.
These wives had kids and busy schedules, but always included this awkward Newbie. And yes, I was still afraid of the dark.

After a couple of years of infertility, God blessed us with 3 precious children. They were all born in different states on different teams...& Yes...they've turned out to be remarkable adults!!

After our first World Series Championship in 1983/Orioles, I was having a conversation with a older coach's wife. She told me, 'Angie get a life of your own...he won't have time for you.' I didn't know what to do with her advice. I knew she meant well, but that didn't settle well with me. I was being shown just the opposite by the women around me. Yes, I was and am still known as Storm Davis's wife. Maybe I'm strange, but that has never bothered me. I know some of my colleagues struggle with this, and I understand, but for me it's always been a badge of honor. I married him on purpose. I am still so thrilled he asked me to be his wife. Plenty of people know me and my name, but Storm knows my heart..

We've always viewed the game as a Joint Effort...as a MLB player wife and now as a MILB coach.'s wife. We've never done well being away from each other for very long. I married my best friend! He married a redhead! Has it been all 'peaches and cream'? Heavens NO! Some years have been rough! But when I shake it all out--I wouldn't want to be doing anything else with anyone else.

Storm has always supported my creative outlets. I owned a wedding business for 6 years...just retired! I've designed kitchens; refinished antiques and hand painted them for sale; Run a deli for a friend; and fund raisers.
However, forever and always---My favorite job ever was raising our kids!! ABSOLUTELY! Now as a lovely result of that... I get to be a Mimi!!!!!💗

I just want to encourage you wherever you are in your story! You are doing a great job!! I promise it's time well spent! Love your man..encourage him..find the good..laugh hard..take care of yourself..be YOU with a brave soul..trust God's plan! Remember when it's all said and done...it will be the two of you! What a marvelous story!!

Am I still afraid of the dark? Let's just say I have very strange sleeping patterns!😩

Thank you for sharing your #veteranbaseballwife heart! Your story resonates with me in so many ways...married young to my best friend...thrust into the baseball ocean with no "floaties" to keep me buoyant...but a "Tribe" of incredible women who took me under their wing and help me fly instead!! Now, 30+ years later, as a coach's wife, I have made it my hearts mission to pay it forward to the young women who find themselves trying to stay afloat! Thanks for the great inspiration with your blog!! With much appreciation (and validation!) ~Deanne Crim
